During Pesach, we eat matzah, or unleavened bread, in order to connect to its powerful energy. Leavened bread, like our ego, rises. Matzah doesn’t change form. The Zohar teaches that the energy of matzah weakens the ego and strengthens our certainty. Our goal during Pesach, therefore, is to be like matzah in that we don’t let our ego rise, keeping it restricted as we draw the Light of the Creator. When we experience challenges, yet maintain certainty that they’re coming from the Light, we receive the greatest blessings.
